10 Day Declutter Game

Happy New Year! Hope this new year finds you happy and healthy!  I took a bit of a break over the holidays to spend time with my family.  It was wonderful!  Now that it is January, I'm itching to get back into our regular routines and get organized.  December was so busy that I stacked piles of stuff everywhere around the house and can now barely fit a cup of coffee on my desk!  Are you feeling it too?
To tackle the mess, I decided to create a decluttering game.  Because life is more fun when you are playing.  Up for playing it with me?  It's an easy commitment.  Just 10 days.  Anyone can do it. Here are the simple rules:

Picture
1. Commit to getting rid of at least one item per day. It all counts. Donate, Trash or Sell.
2. Mark the number of items you are purging on the game board above which I designed as a free printable in pdf format.  To download, just click on the image to get the link.  My gift to you for participating in the game!  Try to beat yesterday's score.
3. Add the number of items you cleared out of your house at the end of the 10 days and write down that total at the bottom of the sheet.
4. The higher the score, the better but everyone is a winner!  Celebrate!

I'm starting the decluttering game on Monday January 12th.  If you are up for joining me in this decluttering adventure, please comment on this post or on my facebook page at www.facebook.com/presentsoflove. Tag your posts on social media with #presentsoflovedeclutter so I can find them.  Let's keep each other accountable and conquer the mess!

More fun way to play:
  • ask your family members to join in the game.  You can make it a friendly competition among family members.  Even the kids can play. Whoever has the highest score, wins.  Reward with a non-material prize such as an afternoon of doing whatever activity they would like to do or a trip to the local family fun center.
  • Too overwhelming to declutter the whole house? Try just starting in one area such as the basement or garage.  Every bit helps.

I would love to hear how your decluttering is going and what you are accomplishing.  Please feel free to invite your friends to play and encourage others via social media by clicking the little buttons.  Thank you for your support!
