I started a new sketchbook this weekend! I love the feeling of those smooth, brandnew pages waiting to be filled with color.
In the past, I've always put the date on each page after I make a drawing and worked on just one drawing at a time. I’ve been reading some art journaling books lately and these books encouraged me to draw frequently and on multiple pages at a time.
The idea is that you can elaborate on a drawing when you come back to it, adding more detail, layers or texture after looking at it with fresh eyes. So, that’s what I’m going to try to do.
Since I still want to have a sense of when I started the sketchbook, I just added the date on the first page and when all the pages are fully illustrated, I will add that date on the last page to show the timeline I worked on this sketchbook.
I purchased the RENDR sketchbook because the pages don’t bleed through. I've not tried to paint in this sketchbook yet but so far my highly saturating Prismacolor markers are not bleeding through so I’m thinking I bought a good one.
Do you keep a sketchbook? Do you draw on one page at a time or enjoy creating on multiple pages at a time?
Would love to hear in the comments!
Thanks for following my journey!
