Remembering brings together two enduring connections to my childhood in the Netherlands—the blue herons I watched growing up and the tulips that remain a familiar symbol of my birth country. The tulips represent the beauty and memories we carry from the past, while the heron’s presence reflects the calm, mindfulness, and inner peace we seek as we move through life. Together, they remind us that our past is part of who we are, while encouraging us to find stillness and stay present as we continue our journey.
This piece was painted on 36” x 12” canvas with professional quality oil paint and mixed media.
